Hydrological Legends

Painted mural maps, robotic salmon
The Hiram Chittenden Locks, US Army Corps of Engineers
Seattle, Washington
2001

A public art installation that invited visitors to experience the historical changes of the landscape and waterways of the Seattle watershed. Using non-toxic materials the artist created maps (legends) on walkways that delineate water systems (hydrology) and their relationship to salmon species at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks.  Robotic fish traced their life cycle along these visitor pathways thereby activating and animating the participation, impact and responsibility of public awareness.
